Shiguma Arakawa is an experienced Rakugoka who highly regards the art of Rakugo and values its hierarchy and etiquette. Despite being reserved, he enjoys having fun with his students, especially Akane whom he sees as a chance to redeem himself for past failures. He pushes his students to excel while also knowing when to take a break. He is driven to make amends for his past by training Akane to become a successful Rakugoka.

God of Death[]

History[]
Shiguma was raised in the back-streets of Tokyo so he didn't go to school.
Shiguma worked as waiter in Soba Shop Kikuhiko with his co-worker and friend Issho Arakawa with who used to spend time together making deliveries and visiting ramen restaurants, however one day while looking for ramen shops they saw a group of yakuzas surrounding a young woman, willing to help her, Issho and Shiguma defeated the yakuzas thus meeting the young Urara Ransaika.
The next day, the leader of the yakuza gang would arrive at the store to beat up Shiguma and Issho for what happened the day before, however they are stopped by an unknown person revealing himself to be the rakugoka Kiroku Kashiwaya who decides to take both of them to the Yasakatei.
During his time as an apprentice, Shiguma used to hang out with Issho, Urara and Miroku.[4]
Two years after becoming Kiroku's apprentice, Shiguma, Issho and their master were expelled from Kashiwaya School because Kiroku did not want to expel them from the school so the head of the school decided to do so. With the three of them on the streets having lost everything, Kiroku decides to make a name for themselves by founding a rakugo school with Shiguma and Issho as the first students.[5]
In an unknown time, Kiroku would inherit the Shiguma's Art to Shiguma. Shiguma would end up inheriting Shiguma's art and his name.
Years later, at some point he met Shinta Arakawa whom taught him the basics of rakugo.
Years later, Shiguma would meet Maikeru who was a young man who wanted to master rakugo because he was bored, however, seeing potential in Shiguma would end up accepting him as his disciple. Some time later, Shiguma would meet Koguma who was a university student who was a fan of rakugo wanting to learn about ancient stories, Shiguma would also accept him as his disciple. Some time later, he would meet Kouji whom he would also accept. Some time later, Shiguma would accept who would be his last apprentice before the Shinta's Shin'uchi Promotion Test, Guriko.
After Shinta's expulsion, he decided not to accept any new students. However 6 years of teaching rakugo, he decided to accept Akane as an official student, joining Maikeru, Kyoji, Koguma and Guriko. Shiguma trained Akane in secret, leading people to suspect he was involved in something illegal. Guriko believes they are meeting illicitly, and Akane agrees that the training appears dubious.
