Karashi Nerimaya (
He was the two-time champion of the Karaku Cup. After the events in Karaku Cup Arc, he decides to enter the Sanmeitei School, changing his name to Karashi Sanmeitei (
He's currently the first and only rakugoka to reach the final round of the Z-1 Grand Prix.[2]
Etymology[]
- Karashi's last name means "practice/train" (練), "grind/polish" (磨) and "house/expert" (家).
Appearance[]
Karashi is a tall, slim young man. His hair is black as well as his eyes, and his mouth is drawn as a smug-like grid. He's usually seen wearing a formal shirt with a branch pattern when he's not in his rakugo clothes.

Personality[]
Karashi usually has a confident attitude which makes him feel superior to others. This is further cemented by him being the current two-time champion of the Karaku Cup.
Karashi is also a confident and skilled rakugo performer. He takes pride in his ability to update old stories for modern audiences and can come off as smug about his talents. Despite this, he is a serious competitor and one of Akane's main rivals for the "Karaku Cup" and the overall series. He can be a know-nothing know-it-all at times, but he eventually comes to realize his own ignorance during Akane's performance.
Rakugo Style[]
His style consists of updating rakugo stories by telling them based on his experiences but always leaving the basis of the original story unchanged. His style was called something close to a "Stand Up" by Issho Arakawa.
History[]
During his years at university, he somehow became interested in rakugo, which made him enter a rakugo club to learn; however, when he observed that the stories being told were boring and did not excite people, he developed his own style.
He participated and won the Karaku Cup two years in a row being the current champion prior to the events of the Karaku Cup Arc, this causing him to receive offers from major companies.
After the events of Karaku Cup Arc, he would enter the Sanmeitei school and become a student of Enso.
